The Virginia Reckless and Aggressive Driver Education Program (RADEP) is a 12-hour driver-education program commonly used when a driver has been instructed to complete additional education involving reckless or aggressive driving behavior.
Driver Training Solutions LLC offers classroom RADEP, a complete 12-Hour Online RADEP Course, and a 4-Hour Supplemental Online RADEP Course for qualifying students.
RADEP stands for the Reckless and Aggressive Driver Education Program. The program expands beyond ordinary Driver Improvement by combining traditional traffic-safety education with additional instruction addressing the behaviors, attitudes, emotions and decisions associated with reckless and aggressive driving.
RADEP may be used in cases involving reckless driving, aggressive driving, excessive speed or other serious traffic-related behavior. However, receiving a reckless-driving charge does not automatically mean that every driver needs the same course. Follow the specific instructions issued in your individual case.
The complete classroom RADEP program consists of two components. Part 1 must be completed before Part 2.
There are several ways to complete RADEP. The correct choice depends on what you have been instructed to complete, whether you already have an acceptable 8-Hour Driver Improvement certificate, and whether online completion is permitted in your particular case.
Choose the classroom pathway when you have been instructed to complete RADEP in person or you prefer instructor-led classroom education. Complete both the 8-Hour Driver Improvement / Part 1 and the 4-Hour RADEP Part 2.
VIEW CLASSROOM RADEP SCHEDULEChoose the complete online 12-hour course when you have been instructed to complete full RADEP and the court, attorney or referring authority permits online completion.
VIEW 12-HOUR ONLINE RADEPThis option may be appropriate if you already completed an acceptable 8-Hour Virginia Driver Improvement Course and only need the remaining four-hour reckless and aggressive driving component.
VIEW 4-HOUR SUPPLEMENTAL RADEPDriver Training Solutions LLC accepts qualifying 8-Hour Virginia Driver Improvement Clinic certificates from other schools for students registering for the supplemental RADEP component.
You do not have to repeat our own 8-Hour Driver Improvement Course simply because your first eight hours were completed with another Virginia Driver Improvement provider.
Our acceptance of your previous certificate does not determine whether the court or referring authority will accept it toward your individual 12-Hour RADEP requirement. Confirm that issue before registering for only the remaining four hours.
The fact that an online RADEP course is available does not mean that every court is required to accept online completion. The format you select should match the instructions in your case.
RADEP and Virginia DMV safe-driving-point eligibility should not be treated as the same thing. Whether points may be awarded depends on the qualifying Driver Improvement component and the reason that component was completed.
A qualifying 8-Hour Virginia Driver Improvement Clinic completed voluntarily may be eligible for safe-driving points when the student meets applicable Virginia DMV rules.
A Driver Improvement course completed because it was ordered by a court is not treated as a voluntary course for safe-driving-point purposes.
The standalone 12-Hour Online RADEP Course and the 4-Hour Supplemental RADEP component should not be selected for the purpose of obtaining +5 DMV safe-driving points.
