The following classes take place in the city and address shown in each listing. No Newport News classroom dates are currently scheduled. All scheduled 8-hour Driver Improvement classes in Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach appear below, together with 4-hour RADEP Part 2 classes in Chesapeake and Portsmouth.

8-hour Driver Improvement: 9:00 AM–5:30 PM. 4-hour RADEP Part 2: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. For the full 12-hour classroom program, complete both components. Past dates disappear automatically using Virginia’s Eastern time. Today’s classes remain listed through the end of the day.

Skills beyond the classroom

Driver Improvement addresses hazards, defensive driving and responsible decisions. RADEP adds attention to attitudes, emotions and behaviors associated with reckless and aggressive driving. The purpose is education you can apply on the road.

How the 12-Hour Virginia RADEP Program Is Structured

RADEP stands for the Reckless and Aggressive Driver Education Program. Students completing the full classroom program complete two separate educational components.

Before class

• Register for the correct course and city.

Classroom tuition is cash only

Eight-hour Driver Improvement: $100 cash. Four-hour RADEP Part 2: $100 cash. Full 12-hour classroom RADEP: $200 total, paid as $100 for each component.

Arrive before the scheduled start. Eight-hour sessions run 9:00 AM–5:30 PM; four-hour sessions run 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. Allow time for Peninsula travel and check-in. Choose a date that leaves time to submit your completion documents before your deadline.

The Newport News classroom facility is located at 21 Old Oyster Point Road in the Oyster Point area, providing a Peninsula location convenient to drivers throughout Newport News and nearby Hampton and York County communities when a local classroom session is scheduled. Driver Improvement or RADEP?

Driver Improvement and RADEP are related Virginia driver-education programs, but they are not the same requirement. Use your court order, DMV notice, attorney instructions or other referral documentation to determine which program you need.
